In-home safety consultation

The home safety assessment conducted by an occupational therapist who is also an aging-in-place specialist will evaluate your living environment for potential hazards and recommend modifications to enhance safety and independence. This comprehensive 90-minute assessment typically covers aspects such as accessibility, fall prevention, lighting, bathroom safety, and adaptive equipment to ensure your home is optimized for aging in place and accessibility no matter your abilities.

Stairs and thresholds in the home can be barriers for walkers, wheelchairs and canes to overcome. Ramps or stairs that can accommodate a walker will increase accessibility in the home. Grab bars will also improve safety in bathrooms and along step

Barrier-free design

Barrier-free recommendations for livability and visitability involve creating an environment that accommodates individuals regardless of physical abilities or health conditions. This includes features such as ramps for easy entry, wider doorways to accommodate mobility aids, lever-style door handles, grab bars in bathrooms, and other universal design elements that ensure a safe and accessible living space for everyone, whether they are able-bodied, living with a progressive illness, or experiencing an acute change in function.
